Why we sometimes have dull skin.

   

 People come to me complaining they have dull looking skin and I keep letting them know they don’t need  to spend a million bucks to get a bright complexion.

Here are some reasons why we have them and some remedies.

1.       We always shed dead skin cells.

It’s a continuous process for every human being. However, the problem arises when we do not remove the dead skin cells from the new skin under it. Various things happen of which one is a dull skin complexion.  It’s just like leaving a white surface to be covered with layers of dusts per day. You won’t get the whitest white. Accumulation of dead skin cells on your skin will not give you the brightest complexion, rather it looks dull. Sometimes dry and flaky also and Moisturizer can’t work well on them.

Solution:

Exfoliate! Exfoliate!! Exfoliate!!!

Using your preferred scrub, you can remove the dead skin cells to reveal what’s under. Exfoliating regularly is important to getting a bright clear complexion.

2.       Doctors say you are what you eat.

(Most times I don’t agree with the saying because if I take lemons I aint a sour lemon lol. But when it comes to skin, I agree.) There are some foods that just help our skin period!!! You take the wrong kind of foods and drinks, your skin will show to the world. For instance, if you live constantly taking loads of sugar or alcohol, you can’t have the best skin on earth.

Solution;

Take foods like green leafy vegetables, whole grains, almonds, fresh grape fruits, avocados, fish (high in essential fatty acids, vitamin C and loads of water.

3.       Majority of Nigerian skips the “moisturizing” aspect of our daily grooming.

What we do not know is if we continue to skip it, our skins is more likely to look older, (fine lines and wrinkles) and dull/dry because it’s not getting any moisture.

Solution;

Wash your face twice a day to take off dirt, oil and make up and always moisturize after washing.

4.       The sun UV rays may also cause the skin not to be at its best. Exposure to the sun for too long each day, damages it than any other factor.

Solution;

Wear sunscreen protection at all times. Buy lotion or make up that have SPF.

5.       Make up.

Using the wrong shade of foundation or powder makes the complexion look grey. Also, some of the liquid or cream foundation are so heavy and don’t give your skin the ability to shine through.

Solution;

Don’t blog your skin out with heavy makeup. Mineral make up is a good choice for those looking for healthy brighter complexion. Also, you can seek professional help to know the shade that suit your skin the best.

6.       Lack of sleep is totally not good for the skin… GET SLEEP!!!
